Welcome to Term 4!
Term 4 learning
Reading and Writing: We are exploring writing and reading for a range of purposes and audiences. When we read or write we are looking to ask questions: who are we writing for? (audience) Why am I writing? (purpose) and therefore what kind of writing would suit this purpose? (text type). We will also look at what different types of texts have in common and what all good writing needs. Check out the writing display in the classroom!
Social sciences: Non Nobis Solum- Not for ourselves alone. We know our motto but do we truly understand and demonstrate it. We will be diving into what this may look like for us, our school and our community. We will be exploring questions such as: what does it mean to give back? In what ways can we give back? What are ways and examples of the ways people give back in the community?
Science: Living world- we will be inquiring into how to grow our own food and plants. We will find out what essentials living things need to survive, what processes occur in living things and how science and technology can enhance or damage living things and processes. We will be incorporating this into our social sciences- can we grow something to give back? What are community gardens? What impact do we have on the living world around us?
Measurement (4 weeks) covering metric units (length, weight, capacity, time)
Shape (4 weeks) covering 2D and 3D shapes, distance and directions, and reflections, rotations, translations and enlargments.
